First Trip to the Dentist in Bundang

Well, its been a long time since I wrote here. I'm compelled to tell you about my trip to the local dentist here in Bundang. My wonderful friend MiSun went with me to translate. I thought our initial trip was merely to show me the office and to make an appointment...but the hygienist got me in the chair faster than most appointments I ever made in the U.S. My initial impression was that it looked alot like a dentist office and had that faint, familiar smell of flouride and enamal.

So in the chair I sit and MiSun kindly translates the procedure. I'm leaning back and the hygienist puts a cloth over my face with nothing but a hole for my mouth. I'm thinking, "This is going to be messy." So she starts with a tool that sounds just like a Dremel bit doing its work. It doesn't hurt, but when I'm told to rinse, the cloth drops and I see these Dremel bits on her work table. So I lean back again, this time gripping the arms of the chair for life. The hygienist pauses. The dentist walks in and asks (in English), "Are you alright?" I inquire about the Dremel bits next to the hygienist and the dentist laughs at me! He says, "No, she's using an ultrasonic cleaning tool." The hygenist shows it to me. *SIGH*. I'm relieved.

So my first trip to the dentist for a cleaning wasn't so bad. Quick service and at only 50,000 Won, or the equivalent of $35 USD (w/ today's exchange rate), I have nothing to complain about.
